Draft script of the original Beetlejuice- more horror, less comedy
While not a book, I would highly recommend reading this early draft revision of the beetlejuice. This story is darker and more violent. Beetlejuice himself is a shapeshifer who can roam the world, and dedicates the last third of the book to mentally breaking down the Deetz family before revealing himself. Trigger - Contains a severe bedroom scene with him and Lydia. In this draft, Charles Deetz is a writer, Lydia Deetz is a full blown Soho death metalhead, and a surprise little sister Cathy Deetz is the main protagonist. While mother Delia Deetz and other characters are mainly unchanged, the Maitlands appear to be of an older generation having opened their hardware store in 1963. Sandworms are only hinted at, and much of the humor is absent being that BeetleJuice claims Amityville was his work. Simple google search if you want to read for yourself.
